We had a 7 1/2 hour sleeper-boat journey. We were expecting bunk beds but it was more like a huge sleepover on the floor!
The boat wasn't full though, so we got plenty of room.
An hour or two in, someone went around closing all of the windows because a storm was starting.
It was a full blown storm - heavy rain, thunder, lightening, the whole shabang.
Which meant, I wasn't sleeping at all.
Marie and me get pretty scared of the sea anyways, for a number of reasons;
1) Because of sharks. And the fact that they eat people sometimes
2) It's a pretty big space, where you can't touch the ground but you also can't breathe if you stop swimming and go under
3) We're not the greatest swimmers
7 1/2 hours later, we were there. Phew.
We got a taxi to some other place, where we waited for two hours (we did miss our first minibus though because Marie went to the shop).
Then we got a minibus for around an hour and a half to another place, where we waited for 45 minutes.
Then we got a boat to Koh Phi Phi, which took a couple of hours.
Basically, there was a lot of travelling and a lot of waiting.
The island is pretty expensive in general, for food and places to stay. We did manage to find some cheap-ish places though, selling Pad Thai and local dishes for just over £1.
We went to the beach on our first day. Patrick, who we met at Ko Tao, was there too.
He brought along Jacks vest too (his birthday present off us), which he left at Ko Tao. So far Jack's lost sunglasses, two pairs of trainers, socks, his phone and our suncream.
We keep the passports, money and any important documents now!
When we got back, we had a call from our mum to tell us our Granddad had sadly passed away.
Of course this changed the way our stay in Phi Phi turned out to be.
A lot of people say Phi Phi is their favourite place in Thailand.
For us, we love places that are good for going out but we love places with beautiful scenery and things to do even more.
Phi Phi is definitely a party place. And we weren't in the mood for partying. It's difficult to have fun when you're carrying a heavy heart around.
We went for a nice meal at an Italian restaurant. We wanted to eat things that were a bit more homely. I had lasagne, Jack had pizza and Marie had salad.
We had a jug of red wine and a Bloody Mary (for Granddad)..
Then had some chocolatey deserts to finish, which he (and we) loves too.
The following day, we did a 30 minute walk to Long Beach..
In the evening we ate at a local place, nicknamed 'The Shack'
Then we got a bucket of Strawberry Dacquri each for 150 baht (£3).
One is definitely enough to get you drunk.
We watched some fire shows and met up with Sophie (who we met in Ko Rong ).
Then I called it a day pretty early on.
Marie followed shortly after..
Then god knows what time Jack came in, we just saw him in the morning, reaching for a bin to be sick in.
He'd lost his 3rd pair of trainers and ran into the sea naked having lost a game of 'Giant Jenga'?! - (He went for a second bucket).
We were planning to stay in Phi Phi for four nights but given that all there is to do there is party and we're not in the mood for that, we decided to change courses and head to the next island early.
Next stop.. Koh Lanta
