It's what hippie dreams and foodie fantasies are made of.
Everyone's happy (a lot of them are stoned, mind you) and it's just the perfect place to chill out.
We went there after hearing so many good things about a hostel there, called Spicy Pai Backpackers..
We were also told that the best thing to do in Pai is.... nothing.
So that's pretty much what we did.
Accompanied by a constant flow of music from an ipod belonging to someone with impeccably good taste in feel-good, chill out, reggae, house type music!
P.s - A couple of gentle heads up for any future travellers..
1) if you want to try a dried giant cockroach, be warned that it doesn't taste like the flavoured kind you can get in Selfridges. It does just taste like giant cockroach and it's virtually impossible to chew!
2) if you're travelling by minivan or minibus from Chiang Mai to Pai, take a sickness or sleeping tablet first.. throughout the 3 hour journey there's something ridiculous like 365 bends.. and the drivers generally drive like they don't value their lives too much.
Other than that... it's marvellous!
:)
